Health insurance should be mandatory by the government for all citizens of India. Very few people in India take health insurance for their family, which can be very fatal for future.
The Government of India has made Ayushman Bharat Yojana for the poor, in which health insurance of 5 lakh rupees is given per year to the eligible family. But this amount also falls short for a major disease like cancer. After which the patient’s treatment comes to a halt in the middle. Mrs. Anu Dhami is a living example of this, who was undergoing treatment in AIIMS, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, the sum insured amount of Rs 5 lakh of her Ayushman Bharat Yojana card was fully utilized. After which she had to request to Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami, chief minister of Uttarakhand for her treatment. Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami understood her problem and gave 5 lakh rupees from the Chief Minister’s discretionary fund for the treatment of Mrs. Anu Dhami.Â
When a middle income group takes health insurance for his family, then he himself has to pay for the health insurance policy every year according to the annual amount of the policy. Even if it is insured from the office of employee, the amount of insurance is fixed. There are very few organizations, companies etc in India where employees do not have to worry about their health insurance.
Everyone’s voice in the country does not reach the Chief Minister or the Prime Minister like Mrs. Anu Dhami’s voice reached the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and she got 5 lakh rupees for her treatment.
Every citizen of the country pays tax, whether in the form of income tax from one’s salary, tax is also included on the purchase of any goods, which is to be paid to the government on the purchase of goods, etc. In this way, every person pays tax to the government. Therefore, the benefit of a good policy must reach every citizen.
It concludes that the government should bring a health insurance scheme for every citizen at the earliest. People are forced to sell their houses, land etc. due to a major illness.
